  Our Services

We offer a comprehensive array of interventions for children, teens and adults with autism, PDD-NOS and Asperger’s Disorder to develop language, social, self-help and academic skills.

We believe that learning is a life-long process and that no one is too old to learn and benefit from research based interventions. As a result, we work with individuals of all ages.

We provide consulting and private and /or group training services to families and professionals. We are also available to oversee programs funded under the Direct Funding Option of the Ontario Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI) program.

Our expertise is in the following areas:

  • Modification of Direct Instruction programs and implementation for ASD children

Workshops

We also offer the following workshops which can be customized to provide different mixes of theory, application, demonstration and hands–on training and practice depending on client needs.

  1. Introduction to the Fundamentals of Applied Behavior Analysis:

Using the fundamentals of applied behavior analysis to evoke, shape, generalize and maintain behaviors.

  1. Understanding, Contriving and Manipulating Establishing Operations: 

The theory and practice of using establishing operations to increase teaching effectiveness in structured and natural environment settings with an emphasis on creating positive learning environments and teaching language.

  1. Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Precision Teaching: 

The theory and practice of fluency based instruction using standard celeration charting and learning channels.

  1. Introduction to Teaching Language to Persons with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities using the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior: 


    • An introduction to ABA and verbal behavior for those with no previous formal experience

    • Implementing a Program for Beginner Learners

  1. Teaching Language to Persons with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities using the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior:

  • Working with Intermediate and Advanced Learners

  • Using the range of teaching technologies derived from ABA including Direct Instruction, contingency contracting and self-management

  1. Understanding and Using the ABLLS

  • Using Sundberg and Partington's "Assessment of Basic Language and Learner Skills to plan curricula."

  1. Problem Solving Using Applied Behavior Analysis 

The theory and practice of applied behavior analysis will be used to develop strategies to deal with real world problems workshop participants bring to the session.  Through this approach participants will learn how to think like behavior analysts and develop diagnostic, analytic and problem solving skills.

  1. Maintaining, Supporting and Extending Verbal Behavior Programs in School and Community Based Settings 

Identifying and dealing with the challenges and opportunities of doing ABA and verbal behavior in formal community institutional settings.

  1. Functional Analysis of Behavior and Dealing with Inappropriate and Problem Behaviors 

  • Trade-offs involved in dealing with inappropriate and problem behaviors

  • Understanding inappropriate and problem behaviors from a functional perspective

  • Effective strategies and techniques to deal with inappropriate and problem behaviors

  1. Hands –On Supervised Training and Practice in Behavioral Teaching Techniques 

  • Participants will learn and practice specific instructional techniques used in applied behavior analysis and verbal behavior programs.

  • Instructional technologies derived from ABA will be used to teach to fluency.  Techniques covered include (but are not limited to) errorless teaching, correction procedures, transfer trials, extinction, and reinforcement.

  1. Direct Instruction: Curriculum Overview and Implementation for Children with Autism

  • Participants will learn about the behavioral principles embedded in the instructional design and delivery methods of DI programs that make it such a highly effective and efficient tool to teach children with autism

  • Review of Language for Learning/ Thinking programs and instructional modifications required to implement DI with ASD children. Opportunity for practice implementation of lessons/ feedback in small groups

  1. Direct Instruction - In-depth tailored training sessions for specific curriculum on request
